WHAT WOULD BE THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF USING THE ELP WITH YOUR GROUPS?

The portfolio is based on the Common European Framework of Reference: Learning, teaching and evaluation, promoted by the Council of Europe, and is intended to qualitatively improve the use and learning of the languages and to highlight the participation of the learner in the study of languages. I.e, help us learning more and better any language and help us to understand and appreciate the linguistic and cultural diversity we have in Europe.

Among other things the ELP helps us to know in which level of use or learning of a language the student is, fix learning objectives and become aware of the progress made, know of the individual way of learning and how it can be improved and understand better and respect different linguistic and cultural both individual and group.

 In using the ELP we can find different advantages and disadvantages. As a future teacher, from my point of view I can mention the following advantages:

- Promotes the development of strategies for discussion, interaction, expression of opinions, organization, problem solving and how to make a decision.

- Create work habits, organization, self-evaluation and assessment of learning.

- Promotes the communicative interaction and exchange of information between the students and the teacher.

- Students develop good learnings and they become more independent.

- Generate scaffolding processes that support the construction of new concepts and knowledge.

 On the other hand, we have the disadvantages:

 - Class time is spent in the “ELP” rather than other activities.

- Not all students work at the same rhythm.

- Students tend to overvalue themselves.

- The exercises are a little bit repetitive.

- The self-assessment method is confusing.

- Is not easy to be at the level itself.

WHICH IS THE BEST LINGUISTIC PROGRAM IN VALENCIA?

Today the learning of foreign languages is a real need in today's society. The OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) defines the basic skills, and in later working groups of the European Commission, are bounded in 8 basic skills, including the communication competence in a foreign language.

That’s why I think the best teaching program is a multilingual program that will allow all students of Valencia get skills in Valencian, Spanish and English.

The aim of these programs is to reach a good competence in the official languages, as well as an appropriate domain of at least one foreign language.

We see an increasement of schools in our Region that apply a multilingual education program that allows promoting a first touch to the English language since the second cycle of Child Education.

I find this article is very, very helpful. Some of their ideas are amazing and after reading this, I'm sure I'll apply some of them. It's very interesting to see the different techniques you use with different ages. I love the idea of putting classical music when the students enter in the classroom. I'll try it in the first time I'll need to catch the attention of them!!! Apart from the article, I've found some sensational ideas from other teachers when they give their opinion about it.

DO YOU WANT SING WITH ME?

Today's update is dedicated to highlight the importance of foreign language in early childhood education. Is essential to work other language in early age because they have greater facility for acquiring languages. That is why we must use the potential with the students because they learn it without realizing because they are very receptive.

It is important to note that more and more early childhood education professionals who are concern concerned to innovate and introduce a second language. I leave you a song that can be useful for teaching body parts to our students.

CHILDREN BORN PURE , NOT POLLUTE ...

"How come the kids are being so intelligent, most of the adults are stupids?  The result must be... " learning by imitation.

One of the main processes by which we learn is imitation. According to experts we are born not knowing imitate and during the first months , while we learn new behaviors we learn to imitate. As we grow , we continue to refine this ability ; imitate more and better.

With this, it is clear that any behavior ( good and not so good ) sees the child 's parents will be likely to be imitated. Not only parents will be role models for the rest of his family , the circle of closest friends, school, television, ... be a potential source of behavior to imitate. It can be deduced that the behavior of children and in the future, the adult may have had its origin in the imitation of a previously observed behavior.

FIVE RECOMENDATIONS TO ENCOURAGE THE HABIT OF READING

1. Do not force reading. Like every activity, reading requires time and constancy to turn, gradually, in a habit. The most important is that reading, little by little, ends up being part of leisure time, as well as other activities.

2. Daily habit. Habits are acquired by repetition. If it is really used as a way to spend time, to discover puzzles, characters, curiosities, looking for those that entertain them and discarding those that do not attract their attention, because the main purpose is to encourage their interest by having fun.

3. Suit their likes. Each child has his own preferences and likes. Therefore it is very important that books we pursue them are to their liking, that we make sure that they like them.

4. Shared reading. There are enough investigations that have shown that shared reading it’s a formula that helps and encourage reading with others, siblings, classmates or adults. Shared reading allows children to enjoy reading together.

5. Make reading an essential activity. It consists of using the book as a way that brings us to solve multiple solutions and curiosities. The book contains answers and orientations that help us to do other things, to solve doubts, etc.

MY BEST TEACHER

We all have had a teacher, but among all, there is always one who we remember, because of his style to teach the lessons, because of his help, etc. I have been lucky of having fantastic teachers, but my best teacher without any doubt, was Vicenta. She was my teacher on the primary school  and I remember the unique moments. She was a happy person, she used to received us with a big smile and she teached us a lot of  knowledge with funny games. They were the best clases ever.

Definitely the most important thing the teachers transmit and help us along our life are the ones which make us grow as a persons.
